Yesterday the 22nd was Alyssa's last Sunday before she leaves for her mission to Peru! She spoke and also sang "Savior Redeemer of My Soul" along with our friends Jeff Fillmore playing his Cello and Suzanna Lau playing the piano accompaniment. It was an absolutely beautiful rendition and brought tears to our eyes. We will sure miss her singing while she is away but hopefully she will get the opportunity to share her gift with the people of Peru. Our sweet friend Sammi Fillmore made these wonderful and very tasty cakes for her farewell! One of Alyssa's favorite quotes was on one of the cakes and says: "Missionary(noun) someone who leaves their family for a short time so that others may be with their families for eternity." Even though right now I don't feel like it will be a short time away from us, I know when you put it next to eternity it is! I am so thankful this dear daughter of ours has decided to serve the Lord in this capacity and I know that she will be blessed and also bless the people of Peru. She got set apart as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints that evening at 5:30 by our stake President, President Lonsdale. The spirit was so strong and it was a beautiful experience for her and our family.
