My first baptism!

-Alyssa only gets an hour to read all her emails and respond each week on her prep day.  I don't know why there is only that amount of time but I am learning that things are different when you serve in other countries. She feels bad that she can't write more but still hopes to hear from anyone who wants to write her.  Here is her latest :)

Hola!!!

Sorry, I don't have time because I decided to send pics instead! Please share what I said about desire! It is so true!
Ask yourself this question, What is my desire?

Also, this week I had a special experience with following the promptings of the Spirit! It was the end of the day and I needed to update my personal journal, but I had the impression that I should read part of the book I brought, "Believing Christ." So I decided to read it. At this time, one of my comps had been in the other room on her knees praying. It is her last transfer and she goes home in 3 weeks. She has been having a difficult time thinking that she hasn't done enough being here and having doubts, and feeling sad to leave.. She came in after she was finished and asked what I was reading. I let her have the book and then I decided to write in my journal, because after all, I needed to! haha... but after that she talked to me and told me that what she read in the book totally answered her prayers. I have a testimony that if you truly allow yourself to be worthy of the spirit and if you following promptings, the Lord will bless you and through you He can bless others! We are His hands! He uses His children to bless His children! Allow yourself to be a tool in His hands and I promise that you will find the joy in His blessings and being able to bless others!!

We had my first baptism this week!! Manuela is officially a member of the church!!

Much love! Have a great week!!

Alyssa looks like a giant compared to everyone LOL!

Alyssa with her companions and her first baptism Manuela!!

                                          Her companions and Manuela :)

She was able to see her first companion sister Jones from the CCM(MTC)                                                                       at the special zone conference they had!

Her bed is the red one.  She says that they are staying in a non-members apartment and that it is small but has wood and tile floors and not dirt so she is very thankful!

                                          This is her desk area:)

1st week as a missionary out of training!

Hola Todos!

First week in the field! I am in Miraflores, Chimbote! (aka the city that smells like fish) yay!! haha #lifeisgreat
I am in a trio! My compañeras son Hermana Higginson de Idaho, y Hermana Rodriguez de Uragua! They are so great!!

I lied when I said I was praying the most I have ever prayed when I was in the ccm. This week I have prayed more than ever! When you are new and a gringo, you get asked to pray alllll the timeeeeee! Haha

Also, my name is officially Hermana Roy.. That's how Roe sounds in Spanish haha so I finally just gave up on trying to correct people :)

I am writing from an internet cafe so that is fun! We have a panchanista and he is actually a guy haha but the food is really good! Lots of Spanish, lots of potatoes, rice, and chicken, and PAN! Also, lots of dirt, lots of dogs EVERYWERE, lots of music (in espanol mostly, but when it's in English its like 80's haha), walking, and taxis.

The people here are so amazing! And we are seeing so many miracles cada día! Don de lenguas is real! There are good and bad days of course, but yesterday was soooooo goood! At the capilla for church, people are so kind and welcoming it humbles your heart so much! Also, we had some awesome lessons with some of our investigadoras last night where I was able to actually share experiencias en my own words through the spirit! It is truly an indescribeable experience!

I have been humbled so much being here entering people's homes where they have nothing but cement all around or dirt, and they have so little, but their hearts are so full! And there are so many people that the Lord is preparing to receive the Gospel!

Two of our investigatoras need to get married before they can be baptized and we were able to find a mass matrimony ceremony on the 23rd that is affordable for them!! #miracles! It is so great! I know that this gospel is true and I am so thankful for this great humbling experience that I have to be able to share it with the people here!

I hope all is well! Have a great week!! My love from Perú!

So I will be able to email again then! Also, for package purposes: When sending a package you need to use LDS DELIVERY, United States Postal Service, or STLVA Henry (don´t know that one haha) and then you have to send it to this address with this name:

Araujo
Elder Perez, Moroni

Misión Perú Trujillo sur.
Calle los Tilos 440, Urb. California,
Trujillo, La Libertad
